What We Have to Offer

R&S has a provincially licensed capacity of 48 children and 10 kinders. The interests and opinions of all of the kids are always taken into consideration in our programming.

Daily Programming

Our centre consists of a quiet study area, with tables, stationary, books, and quiet games; a craft room, with a variety of art supplies, kits and craft idea books; a manipulative room, decked with board games, Lego, foam and wooden blocks, puzzles, and other manipulative toys; and an outdoor courtyard and shed, filled with sports equipment of all seasons, including a parachute and numerous sleds.

Children have the opportunity of using any of the rooms at their own discretion. They are encouraged to always be engaged in an activity of their choosing. The courtyard is open every day, weather permitting, to encourage physical literacy at our centre.

A nutritious snack consisting of at least two different food groups is prepared in our kitchen and served daily, before and after school. Children with allergies have individually prepared snacks, labelled with their name and dietary restrictions, to ensure their food safety needs are always met.

Full Day/Summer Programming

Our programming on non school days, where the children are in our care for the entire day, is designed to make the best use of the extra time and resources. More complex games, crafts, and activities are planned for the children to engage in.

In the summer, we take trips to various community parks and our own courtyard daily. In engaging with our community, special programs such as the Edmonton Public Library and special artists are invited to engage with the children. Field trips to child-oriented places such as the Telus World of Science, Galaxyland, Fort Edmonton Park, bowling alleys, swimming pools and more are highly anticipated and always included in our programming. These field trips will be updated under Upcoming Events.

Children are allowed to bring their own toys understanding on these days they are fully responsibility for them. We allow personal electronics, brought to R&S with parent's permission, to be used for a limited time each day (~15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the afternoon).
